Are you ready for some
good news? We can always use some glad
tidings, but I think we are in a time when some positive vibes could do us all
some good. Well, if you are wanting to
hear something good, here it is – Jesus loves us and wants to save us! There are times we spend a lot of time
working out the mechanics of salvation – and we should make sure we are doing
what we are supposed to be doing. But
for just a minute, I would like to step back and take a very broad look at the
gospel (that’s just another word for good news). As the Apostle John reflected on what he had
learned through Jesus’ lifetime, he reminded us of what he had discovered, “For
God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that
whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” (John
3:16). I have to be honest with you,
growing up in and around church, I am quite familiar with this passage, but
periodically I need to go back and bask in its goodness. As humans – as God’s creation – we are loved
by Him and we have hope of eternal life through the sacrifice of Jesus! In a world filled with arrogance and
self-centeredness, we have the opportunity to feel confident in God’s grace.
I believe we need to
pursue what is right and practice obedience, but let’s never lose sight of
God’s love. He cares about us and wants
us to be successful – not just in this life, but throughout eternity.
Think About It!
