How would you describe God?   We live in a world that is filled with all kinds of ideas and perspectives on God – some of which are good, others ... well, not so much.   So how can we describe God?   Maybe the place to start is by allowing Him to describe Himself.   When Jehovah God was cementing His relationship with the Jews He noted, “ Yahweh!   The Lord!   The God of compassion and mercy!   I am slow to anger and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness.    I lavish unfailing love to a thousand generations.     I forgive iniquity, rebellion, and sin.   But I do not excuse the guilty.   I lay the sins of the parents upon their children and grandchildren; the entire family is affected – even children in the third and fourth generations.” (Exodus 34:6-7).   As I read God’s assessment of Himself, two things stood out to me.   First, God cares about His people.   He wants to offer forgiveness, hope and lovingkindness to His creation.   He desires a relationship with His people so
