Do you like to read the Revelation? I think there are some people who enjoy reading about and imagining what John saw and recorded in the final book of the New Testament. I see the value of the material, but I find it a bit confusing keeping all the characters straight. Now, having said that, there are parts of the book that inspire me. You see, in the midst of some of the challenging stories and visions are some basic truths that bring a sense of order to our lives. Take, for instance, Revelation 4:5-11. There is a lot of descriptive language painting a very unusual picture, but interwoven in the visuals are statements of fact and faith. In verse 8, John records hearing, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty, who was and who is and who is to come.” and in verse 11 he repeats, “Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will t...
