On this date in 1989 Wayne Gretzky broke the NHL’s all-points record.  Now, I have a confession to make … I am not sure exactly what that means.  I grew up in the South before hockey came to Florida and Texas, so about all I knew about spots on ice was the 1967 “Ice Bowl” where those Green Bay Packers beat my Dallas Cowboys. However, even though I don’t know much about hockey, I know that The Great One was really good and what he accomplished was incredible.  Now, even though I wasn’t a fan of his ability, I do like some of Gretzky’s observations.  One of my favorites is, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”.  I had heard this quote through the years, but I recently came across another one, “Procrastination is one of the most common and deadliest of diseases and its toll on success and happiness is heavy.”  In other words, we aren’t going to accomplish much if we don’t try.  I understand the concept of being judicious in our efforts, but I beli...
