I recently learned that a lady I have known for a good portion of my life passed away. She was the mom of a close friend of mine from back in the day and, even though I haven’t seen her in years, the news of her passing opened up a flood of memories. From eating her out of house and home during sleepovers to her reaction to Elvis Presley’s death to a genuine feeling of appreciation and acceptance, I have a lot of fond memories of her. Interestingly, I don’t have a lot of memorable moments while I was around her, I just had a sense that she cared about me. When we pass from this life, how will people remember us – maybe a better question is will they even remember us? It is hard for us to imagine, but the world will go on even after we are gone, so why would people pay attention to us?
