The other day I was at the gym, and I noticed a T-shirt that really caught my attention. Now, there are times when people wear questionable clothing to the local fitness center, but this one really challenged me. Written on the exerciser’s shirt was something to the effect of, “I always succeed. I either win or I learn.” It was a rather short statement, but it contained a powerful message. When we approach “conflict” with a mind of engagement, something positive can happen. If we overcome the quest (whether it is an interpersonal competition or an intrapersonal challenge) we gain some sort of victory – that’s a good thing. Yet, even when we “lose”; if we set out to learn a lesson that helps us prepare for the future, we win. No, we may not be able to put a tally in the win vs. loss column, but we put something positive in our future arsenal.
