Sometimes I wonder if we are too far gone to restore things like civility and respect to the American landscape? Changing culture is tough, isn’t it? While we are facing some challenges in our world, the answer isn’t all that difficult, the issue is are we willing to do? I remember an Old Testament story about Naaman who was seeking to be cleansed of leprosy. It appears that he was willing to undertake great hardships to heal the disease but balked at the simple order to go dip in the Jordan River. It took the wisdom of his servants to point out the obvious, “My father, had the prophet told you to do some great thing, would you not have done it? How much more then, when he says to you, ‘Wash, and be clean’?” (II Kings 5:13). Naaman reshaped his thinking and was healed. That brings us back to our issue in the 21st Century. While it appears that we would be willing to spend a lot of money and invest a lot of time to fix our society, the answer is simple and straight forward, “Owe
