I get the feeling that proverbs have fallen out of favor in our society. I wonder if the reason for this is the “exception rule”. Proverbs are general observations about life; however, they are not explicitly 100% accurate. There is always an exception to the rule. When that happens, human nature is apt to be more focused on the exception rather than generalization. Well, in the interest of not getting bogged down by the naysayers, I’d like to share an Old Testament proverb with you. The wise man of the Proverbs noted, “A good man will obtain favor from the Lord, but He will condemn a man who devises evil. A man will not be established by wickedness, but the root of righteousness will not be moved.” (Proverbs 12:2-3). As I read through this I found a sense of comfort.
