We hear a lot these days about how much life matters. From Black Lives Matter to Blue Lives Matter to being Pro-Life, the value of life seems to a pressing topic. While I encourage people to promote the innate value of life, I think it is important to ask another question – just how much do our lives matter? Advocating that “lives matter” is a good mantra, but until we begin to focus on making the most of our lives, we are missing an important part of the equation. Until we translate the time we have been given into something that makes a difference, we are merely giving lip service to something that sounds good, but doesn’t really matter. As the early Christians were being taught, they were reminded of the value of their lives and the importance of their purpose.
