I have been reading the autobiography of a church leader from a couple centuries ago and I have come to a conclusion – I am not really all that bight!   As I read his thoughts and try to grasp his theological reason, I am blown away by how deeply he thought and how well he wrote.   He may have lived a long time ago, but he – and many more from his time – are head and shoulders above me.           Now, having said all of that, I think we need to be careful when it comes to religious thought.   While there is value in studying religious theory and developing a deep religious understanding, we must not miss out on one important fact – Christianity, at its heart, is a very simple concept.   It is great to be able to explain what leads believers to their faith, but the most important aspect of our religion is to have that faith.   Deep concepts are wonderful, but simple understanding and obedience are what ultimately save us.           Centuries ago, as Jesus taught many common people
