Thursday; August 14
Forty-four years ago, my
life changed. Actually, it had changed
well before that, but on August 14, 1981, it became official. After a few months of dating, Jeane and I
were married.
I don’t have enough space in this post to tell you how much
of an influence she has had on my life but suffice it to say that I could not
have done all I have gotten to do without her in my life. In all honesty, I wouldn’t have been all I
have become without her in my life. I am
blessed!
As I thought about this this week, I remembered what
Solomon wrote years ago, “He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains
favor from the Lord.” (Proverbs 18:22).
I am sure the wise king doesn’t need my affirmation, but he is
right! A good wife is blessing that
keeps on giving. As I have reflected on
the last 4 decades I have come to realize a couple of things. First, my life is better when I appreciate Jeane
for what she has done. When you live
with anyone for over forty years there are going to be ups and downs, but a
long-term marriage is bound to be filled with far more ups than downs. If we are going to appreciate what the Lord
has given us, we need to stay focused on the positives. Second, I encourage all the men to find a
good wife – or if you are married, find the good in your wife. The Lord knew what we needed when He gave us
marriage partners for life. Let’s not
neglect the blessing we can have – from our wives and from our Lord.
Think About It!
