Some of you might have seen my picture from last week of the spotted fawn I took in my father’s front yard.  I had been talking to my sister about a couple of does that had been hanging around and wondered if she had seen their fawns.  As I parked at my dad’s I noticed some movement and there it was – a very young fawn standing there looking at me.  I stopped for a second and the little deer just laid down and watched me as I took its picture.  I have taken a lot of pictures of critters, but this one has become one of my favorites!

As I thought about this encounter with nature, I got to thinking about life and I noticed a couple of things.  First, every so often we need to go looking for the simple little things that bring joy to life.  Contentment doesn’t always come with some great accomplishment or acquisition.  Let’s take the time to see beauty – even if it presented to us in a small and simple package.  Second, let’s do our best to preserve our innocence.  I was struck by how trusting this small creature was of me.  It hadn’t learned to be afraid of me and felt comfortable being around me.  I realize there are times we can be hurt by big, mean people or unknown organizations; but when we can let our guard down and enjoy the benefits of innocence, let’s take advantage of it.  Is there a possibility we’ll get hurt?  Maybe – but, by living this way, we might just be able to be less jaded.

What will you see today that might bring joy to your life?  Take a look around and allow your eyes and your spirit to see something special.

Think About It!
