After being married for several years, a woman looked over at her husband as he drove the car and lamented how they were not as romantic as they used to be. She observed that when they were dating back in the day, she would ride right next to him on the bench seat of his old trusty-rusty car. The man, who didn’t disagree with the observation, quietly said, “Well, who moved?”.
Some of you who grew up in a world filled with bucket-seated cars may not get the point as easily as those of us who dated in the day when you could sit next to each other on the front seat, but the point remains that sometimes we can express our regrets without taking responsibility for what got us there. While this might be true in our relationships, one place it is certain is in our spiritual walk. The Lord remains committed to be with us, so when we feel distanced from Him, who moved! This can be a disheartening observation, but is also one that easily corrected. You see, all we have to do is seek to restore that relationship with Him and He will welcome us back with open arms. Have you ever been away from an old friend for a period of time, but reignited that friendship without seeming to miss a beat? It’s almost like you picked right back up in the last conversation you had – even though there had been years in the interim. Interestingly, that can happen with God as well. We still have the foundation of a relationship with Him, all we have to do is move back closer to Him!
Are you feeling distanced from God? Is it time to slide back toward Him?
Think About It!
