Just in case you have missed all the hype, this weekend contains the Super Bowl. This Sunday the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers square off in the championship game of the NFL. While there will be tens of thousands of spectators watching the game live and in person in Las Vegas, millions more will see it as it happens through 21st Century media. It will be a big deal – at least until next year.

When I think about Super Sunday, my mind goes back to a spring day a couple thousand years ago. On that Sunday morning, Jesus walked out the tomb and paved our way to salvation. Interestingly, there were just a handful of people who actually witnessed Him that day, but that empty tomb has changed lives ever since.

I hope your team wins the Super Bowl this Sunday, but before we settle in to watch the big game (and the even bigger extravaganza) let’s take the time to reflect on and be thankful for Jesus’ victory over the grave. Before we gather around the TV set, let’s gather together with like-minded people and celebrate Jesus’ eternal conquest over sin and death by joining with the Apostle Paul who reminded us, “… but thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (I Corinthians 15:57).

Think About It!
