It is good to be a good person. Yet, what is the value of being a good person? This may all seem to be a bit odd, but have you really ever thought of what’s so good about being good? Sure, there might be some intrinsic value in being good, but it isn’t until we do good – show the goodness inside of us – that positive things actually start to happen. We can have principles and values, but until others see them, are they really all that valuable?
When Jesus was developing His following, He challenged His disciples to make sure they lived their lives from the inside out. Once they developed a good heart, they were to expose it by doing good things. In essence, He put it this way, “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14-16).
Let’s develop the righteousness we need to be different, but let’s put it into practice so we can make a difference. When we display the impact God has made in our lives we will be able to shine a light that can never be extinguished.
Think About It!
