Sixty years ago, our
nation was facing a divide that threatened to tear us apart – imagine
that! Of course, when you think about
it, the 1960s weren’t too different from the rest of our history were
they. When we consider the 2020s and
then compare it back to the 1860s, we have had a continual problem with social
responsibilities, haven’t we! One of the
worse parts about these conflicts is that we are making life way more difficult
than it needs to be. The truth of the
matter is that it is much easier to love than it is to hate. Now, that might sound backwards, but think
about it – to hate, we must continually keep score … we must keep fanning an
internal emotional flame … we must find new and worse ways of displaying
contempt to others. When we love one
another all we have to do is … well, just love one another.
Several years ago, Martin
Luther King observed, “I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.”. Not only is it a harder lifestyle, but it
also has a more dangerous outcome. When
we live in hate we can abuse others; but we also tend to sour the generations
that follow us. They perpetuate our
prejudices and keep the irrational beliefs alive.
Are we growing weary of
being sick and tired of our society’s ills?
Let’s just choose love and take the easy way out!
Think About It!
