How was your 2025?  Did you accomplish what you set out to do?  Are you better than where you were on January 1?  I think that we tend to be a little harsh on ourselves when we look back at our progress (or digression) in the preceding years.  I think we highlight our failures more than our successes.  No, we didn’t do everything right in any preceding year, but with mistakes can come advancement … and that leads to growth.  I like Paul’s thinking when he wrote, “Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus. Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:12-14).

Before we move into 2026, let’s take a minute to be thankful for what we experienced in 2025.  I am sure there were some aches and pains, but the hope is that with them came growth and development.  Also, let’s look back on those events we enjoyed with fondness.  Surely there we some fun times – let’s not forget them.  There will be a few of us who have had such a horrible 2025 that we can’t wait to (literally) turn the page on the calendar.  But, for the rest of us, let’s relish the good times just as we learn from the difficulties.

Best wishes for the coming year, but let’s not get in too big of a hurry.  Let’s pause and reflect on the last 365 days the Lord gave us.

Think About It!
