I was recently in a meeting where we were discussing how to approach reaching out to people in need. The benevolence meeting addressed how we wanted to help the hungry in our community and there were a lot of potential solutions presented. On the one hand, the solutions presented provided us with some neat ideas. On the other hand, the need to reduce all the good ideas to one usable, attainable approach seemed daunting. How can you take dozens of suggestions and streamline them into a program? While this may seem like a challenge, there is another, greater issue that came out of the meeting – at what point to we actually do something? Ideas are important, but actions are what make the difference. It’s great to throw around possibilities, but the proof of the pudding is doing something that eases hunger in the community.
It is easy to see that this issue exists in the church but in all honesty, the problem is wide spread. There are tons of good ideas out there, but unless we are willing to put the concepts into practice we will not make a significance difference.
Are you in a situation where you are confronting a problem? If so, what are you doing about it? Eventually, make it a point to “select” an option and put it into action. Until we do, we really aren’t actually making a difference.
Think About It!
