We are people of habits. When we are on a good run, our habits can help us maintain success; but conversely, when we get in a pattern of bad habits, we can continue to spiral downward.

So, how can we develop good habits? Here are a few suggestions:

1. Start off by knowing what you’d like to accomplish. We can get lucky sometimes and make a series of good decisions that pay dividends, but if we want to be able to sustain success, we need to know where we are going.

2. Notate what you plan on doing. Having a general idea of what we hope to accomplish might help us move forward, but when we are able to articulate our steps we have an opportunity to measure them and accomplish them. By the way, the more ways we document these, the most likely we are able to accomplish them.

3. Commit to doing what we are planning on doing each day. It can be overwhelming to think of things in weeks or months of accomplishments, but we can easily do one thing each day.

4. Celebrate daily successes. When we do the things we have laid out to do each day, take the opportunity to acknowledge the good that is done. We don’t need to throw ourselves a party when we do what we set out to do, but a quick pat on the back might help us to keep up the good work.

Good luck on your quest. When you establish good habits, great things might be just around the corner.

Think About It!
