It seems like every week I need to remind us that we need to not be overwhelmed by the negativism and evil that is out in the world. Maybe the reason I find myself saying this so often is that I am one of the ones caught up in the discouragement found in modern society. I write it because I need to hear it!

I hope you aren’t like me and can skip right on past these reminders, but if you happen to be one of us, I want to share something with you that I found a few days ago. In the midst of teaching us about the challenges of dealing with day-to-day living, the writer of Ecclesiastes notes, “So I commended pleasure, for there is nothing good for a man under the sun except to eat and to drink and to be merry, and this will stand by him in his toils throughout the days of his life which God has given him under the sun.” (Ecclesiastes 8:15). Even though the book is not signed, most people believe that it is Solomon who is encouraging us to take the time to enjoy life – even in the midst of the negativism we see. To be able to do this, we have to be okay with not being okay. We have to realize that, as humans, there are a lot of things we can’t control. We have to accept that, since we aren’t God, there are struggles we may not understand. We have to be okay with the fact that the puzzle we call life may be missing a piece or two. No, life isn’t all clean and neat, but we can still find things and times to enjoy. Sniff the flowers, enjoy the desserts and laugh at the jokes – it’s okay!

Let’s all find something fun and pleasurable in this day. We have to live on earth anyway, we might as well enjoy it!

Think About It!
