While I can find several problems with the internet, social media and easy access to online stuff; there are benefits as well. One of them is the accessibility to things such as High School athletics. Now, I am not talking about major High School football or basketball powerhouses that get a temporary spotlight on ESPN, I am taking about just good old fashioned access to hometown teams. Even though I have been away from Central South Dakota for a while, it was fun to watch the High School Football Championship games. While it was enjoyable that the team I supported won, the most impressive thing about the game was how they won. After an exciting comeback to tie the game, the kicker missed the extra point that would have provided a lead. However, in storybook fashion, with time running out, that same kicker made a 40 yard field goal to win the game. What a fun game – but, more importantly, what an incredible lesson!
When things don’t go our way, we have two choices: we give up and take on the role of a failure or we can look for the next chance to make the most of our opportunity. None of us are perfect, and sometimes we don’t even live up to our potential, but the key to success is not giving up and trying again. Sure it can be embarrassing or even heart-breaking to fail, but true success is found in dusting ourselves off and being prepared for the next opportunity.
When we fail, what do we do? Remember, we are only failures when we give up and refuse to answer the call of the next chance!

Think About It!
