Thursday; November 26
What are you going to be doing this Thanksgiving? Most of us will readily admit that this holiday will be different than most; however, that doesn’t mean that it can’t still be a day of thanksgiving. Most of us have our health, many of us will still be able to gather with our friends and family. A vast majority of us will overeat (and be given the choice of the type of food on which we will over-indulge). There will be a live parade and football games to watch on our 50+ inch television sets and at some point, if we choose to do so, will be able to reach out to acquaintances from all over the world on our digital devices. Yeah, considering all the challenges we are facing, the vast majority of us are still in pretty good shape.
I hope that everyone has a great Thanksgiving Day, but I ask that in the midst of the festivities we’ll all stop for a minute and praise God. I realize Thanksgiving is a national (not a religious) holiday; but if the rest of society is taking time to say “thanks”, Christians should as well. If you need a way to jumpstart our praise of thanksgiving, listen to the words of David, “Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courtyards with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting and His faithfulness is to all generations.” (Psalm 100:4-5).
Think About It!
