Well, I think I am about to make everyone upset with me … so here goes: I don’t care if you watch the NFL or if you boycott all sporting events. I will not criticize you for voting for a Republican, Democrat, Independent or if you don’t vote at all. It doesn’t bother me if you drive an electric car or a Ford F350. As long as you follow the law and stand an appropriate distance away from people, it really doesn’t matter to me if you wear a mask or not. It doesn’t bother me if you utilize the public school system or educate your children in a different way. What does matter to me is whether or not you are a good person!
With so many issues going on around us, I think it is easy to lose our focus on what is important. Sure, each of the preceding debates probably should be discussed, but at the end of the day, the single most important thing in our lives is whether we love people and are faithful to God. There is a lot of room for discussion on the myriad of issues that face our society, but we must not be swayed from our primary focuses. When Jesus was asked about establishing priorities He said, “’You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 22:36-40). At the end of the day, the thing that will determine if we are right or not is our righteousness.
Let’s make time to discuss modern issues, but let’s never lose sight of our priorities. In fact, when we get them right, everything else will fall into place.

Think About It!
