I am sure Saul of Tarsus thought he had it made.  He was a trusted part of the Jewish religious movement in Jerusalem.  He had been trained up for this moment and he had everything in place – the knowledge of the Law and a zeal to protect his faith.  Yes, he was where he was supposed to be ... or was he?  In a matter of a few days, he discovered a new destiny.  After meeting Jesus on the Road to Damascus, spending three days blind and fasting, then hearing Ananias telling him that he needed to change his lifestyle and perspective; Saul understood he had a new talent and a new mission.  Shortly after making this realization, the Lord related to him, “Make haste, and get out of Jerusalem quickly, because they will not accept your testimony about Me ... Go! For I will send you far away to the Gentiles.” (Acts 22:18, 21).  Saul’s circumstances led him to a new realization about himself and a new path in life.
What have we learned about ourselves over the past few weeks?  Have we discovered some talent we didn’t know we had?  Have we felt the stirring to do something different with our lives?  Are we realizing that what we were doing before needs to be replaced with something more fulfilling?  If so, what are we going to do about it?  With many of our communities relaxing the constraints we have felt, we are at a crossroads in our lives.  We can fall back into our old ways or we can use this newfound realization or energy to lead us toward what we can be doing in the future.  There has been a lot of talk about our communities discovering a new normal, but that revised way of doing things doesn’t need to be reserved just for how we go to out to restaurants or the way we travel.
Do we need to invest in a new normal in our own lives?  If so, it will never be easier to do it than it is right now!
