How many of us have a friend close
enough to us that we can tell them anything?
I imagine that many of us have someone we can talk to, but have you
given much thought to the value they bring to our live?. Sure, they might be able to keep a secret,
but can they also give good counsel? We
might feel comfortable telling them anything, but are we confident that what they
tell us will be good for us?
The other day I was reading the New
Testament challenge, “Therefore, confess
your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may
be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish
much.” (James 5:16) and got to wondering how many of us have this type of
relationship in our lives. The challenge
is not necessarily directed at confessing our sins to a religious official,
rather the encouragement seems to be to find someone who is spiritual and
caring.
If we have
this type of person in our lives, let’s learn to rely on them for their insight
and their prayer. If we don’t have
anyone like this, let me ask a question – where can we find someone who will
fit what is missing in our lives? There
are a lot of good, caring, wise people who are willing to help us become the
best we can be. Are we willing to trust
them enough to share our lives with us and humble enough to accept their
guidance?
Think About It!
