A couple of things have happened to me
over the last few days that have reminded me how disconnected I am. First, Jason Adlean was named the Artist of
the Decade by the Academy Of Country Music.
When I think about him, I recall an upstart singer who had a few minor
hits ... wow, I am out of it. The other
was making reference to George Michael’s hit, (You Gotta Have) “Faith” only see
the glazed over look in the eyes of people who have children of their own. I have never really considered myself a
trendsetter, but I didn’t realize how much of an old-fogy I have become!
One of the challenges I face is trying
to stay somewhat contemporary and relevant while not losing the foundation that
keeps me grounded in the faith. I want
to be able to relate to modern society without becoming tainted by thoughts and
philosophies that just aren’t correct.
As I got to pondering this dilemma I recalled about a reminder issued by
a New Testament writer, “Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you;
and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today
and forever.” (Hebrews 13:7-8).
As I grow and develop, it is incumbent upon me to remember from whence I
have come.
Are we
struggling with balancing relevance with truth?
Let’s make sure we are relating to the world, but let’s not give up on
those things that make our message acceptable to and accurate before God.
Think About It!
