We are living in a wrecked world. If you have heard me speak or read much of my
writing, hopefully you realize that I try to be positive, but it is becoming
more difficult. Yes, in the past I have questioned
the “sky is falling, the sky is falling” mentality, but it is getting more and
more difficult to stay optimistic. Yes,
I believe the plethora of information sources tends to inflate the bad news,
but it is obvious that we have problems.
Now, having painted a rather dim
picture, here is my question – what are we going to do about it? Maybe more pointedly what are you going to do
about it? What am I going to do about
it? It is easy to feel overwhelmed ...
it is simple to try to distance ourselves from it and say, “It’s not my
problem”, but neither one of these is productive. Sitting on the sidelines in the battle for
our communities and our society doesn’t cut it!
There is a philosophy that states that he easiest way for evil to be successful
is for good people to do nothing. When
we think about it, if the only people doing anything are the people doing evil
then evil is all that is being done!
Until good overcomes evil, evil will win!
The Bible reminds us, “Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin.”
(James 4:17). Everyone can do something
– and someone might have the answer that will eventually turn the tide. We cannot excuse our inactivity and we cannot
bury our heads in the sand – we must be involved.
So,
what are we going to do?
Think About It!
