A few years ago we went shopping for a pick-up.  When we were in the dealership the salesman regaled me with information about all the types of pick-ups they had … I asked if they had one I could test drive – he said “yes”.  On the test drive he began telling me all about how it had 6 cylinders, 9.2 cc engine that generates 1000 horsepower and uses flex non-carbon training eco-system (or something like that) … I asked if they had a white one – he said “yes”.  When we got back to the showroom he started telling me about how it was made in some factory somewhere and how advanced the computer system and dynamics were … I asked if it had XM Radio – he said “yes”.  I said “I’ll take it.”.
The point to my story is that when it comes to certain things, I am pretty easy to please.  When it comes to vehicles I don’t care if it was made on a Monday or Friday, I don’t need to know all about the specialty parts … all I need to know is that when I turn the key the motor goes “vroom” and the radio comes on!  Interestingly, I am pretty much the same when it comes to much of my religious faith.  Take, for example, the beginnings of our world.  For some, it is compelling to want to be able to prove God’s role in the creation, but, to me, what matters is found in the simple statement, “It is He who made the earth by His power, Who established the world by His wisdom; and by His understanding He has stretched out the heavens.”. (Jeremiah 10:12)  I am good with that!   Sure, it’s great if science and history can confirm God’s Word, but in the end I believe Him.  Maybe I am a bit simple, but in that simplicity lies my faith … or as someone once told me, “God said it, I believe it, that settles it.”.
