For the last several years Christians have been vocal in lamenting the evil that surrounds us. Many tend to feel like society and government is out to defeat us. Others claim to feel the squeeze of persecution. A lot of people believe that immoral social movements are trying to choke the life out of churches and individuals. While some of this might have some grains of truth in them, have we ever thought about how we can deal with it? Honestly, we aren’t going to get too far by fussing and whining about it, so what do we do to overcome these perceived slights? Well, one of the first things we can do is make a statement by being open and obvious in our spiritual lives. When people see us doing good works, they are apt to listen more intently to our message. When people see us taking the time to worship our God, they might be willing to take our commitment more seriously. When we are known by our cars being parked in the church building parking lot, we might have a good shot at being able to convince others of the value of godly religion.
Have we been complaining about people or entities trying to quash our ability to display our spirituality? If so, do we have plans to be at a worship service this weekend? Our words will only go so far. Pretty soon, we’ll have to back them up with our actions. When we do, our neighbors and our Lord might take us more seriously.
Think About It!
