I am curious to see what will become of the coronavirus.  Through the years there have been all strands of illness and various levels of attention paid that the impact they would have on a particular nation or throughout the world in general.  Some of the illnesses have lived up to the hype, others have involved more pomp than circumstance.  Honestly, I hope that the COVID-19 is a mere short-term headline grabber rather than living up to the fear it is producing.
One thing I have noticed about the warnings being posted about the modern illness is that it appears that prevention is pretty straight forward.  Most of us know how to limit exposure to the virus (by using good hygiene habits), the question is will we do it?  Early on in this process we are being told that the best way to protect ourselves is to follow some simple, common sense rules.
Now, please understand, the focus of this observation is not really about how to stay well or even to allay the fears that seem to be escalating, it is about another pandemic – sin.  Yes, sin is a huge problem in our world, but have you noticed that the answer to avoiding sin isn’t a complex system of religious actions or rituals?  Staying safe from sin is often found in simple things such as loving our neighbor, being selfless rather than selfish, avoiding places where we can reasonably expect to find temptation and hanging out with good influences rather than evil ones.  Spiritual purity isn’t rocket science – it is typically the application of good old fashioned common (spiritual) sense.
I wish you well in your physical and spiritual health.  Let’s practice solid prevention techniques so that we can stay away from physical illness and spiritual death.
          Think About It!
