What are you going to do this weekend?  Usually this time of year we are meeting ourselves coming and going, but with what is going on we have an opportunity to do spend some time doing something a little different.  If you are looking for some suggestions, here are a couple of things.
1.  Breathe.  This may seem a little weird, but how many of us have spent the last couple of weeks “wrapped around the axle”? (That’s a southernism, so if you don’t understand it let me know.)  Take some time to sit on the porch or go of a walk and just relax.
2.  Plant a flower.  Whether it is in your backyard, in your herb garden or in a Styrofoam cup, add to the beauty of the world by planting a flower.  No, it might not bloom for a while, but when it does it will bring the joy of remembering that God got us all through today’s challenges.
3.  Send someone a card.  Not an email or a text, but a real-live card.  I doubt that there has been a run on cards at the local megamart, so there should still be some good ones left.  Spend the $4.00, write a note, put a stamp on it and drop it in the mail.  Not only will it help the receiver, it will be a blessing to the sender.
4.  Tune-out.  Over the last few days I have come to realize just how little information there is.  I was so used to looking at stuff online that it just became a bad habit with me.  If you can’t stop “cold turkey” limit yourself to one purposeful view of social media or informational sources a day.  Believe me, you won’t miss much.
5.  Go worship God.  This may sound odd – especially with churches closing and the restrictions of gathering in crowds, but taking the time to join together with like-minded believers in praising God can refresh our spirit.  Find yourself a small group and take in the spirit!
Think About It!
