OK ... Public Service Alert! Mother’s Day is this Sunday! If you have waited this long you might not be
able to get a reservation at her favorite restaurant or have the online retailer
deliver gifts or flowers by Sunday, but at least you still have a chance if you
don’t wait much longer!
As I look back at my life I have been
blessed to have been surrounded by so many wonderful women. I can’t do justice to all those who have made
an impact in my life, but they include: my
Mom, my wife Jeane, my grandmothers, my aunts, my “adoptive moms” (who took me
in when I was living far away from home), my mother-in-law, my sister, our
daughter Amanda and so many others who will never know the positive impact they
have had on me. I am thankful for all
the “mothers” in my life.
My reflection on all these women
prompted me to ponder the traits they possessed that made them special. While they each had their own unique
qualities, there was something they had in common – love. The most important women in my life lived by
the simple philosophy, “’You shall love the Lord your God with all your
heart, and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as
yourself.’” (Matthew 22:36-39).
I
hope everyone has a great Mother’s Day.
Whether we celebrate by being able to do something special with our
mothers or we can only call upon the fond memories of someone who touched our
lives, let’s honor the day and the person who made a difference for us.
Think About It!
