Are you the cream of your social crop?  In other words, are you the best example; most spiritually developed; most morally devout person in your group?  While it might be tempting to see this this as being a positive, is it really?  Sure, being the shining star might  help others, but what does it do for us? Now, please hear me out – I am not advocating that we should lower to standards to match those of our friends, what I am saying is that it might be time to get better friends.  Warren Buffet made an interesting point when he noted, “It's better to hang out with people better than you. Pick out associates whose behavior is better than yours and you'll drift in that direction."; but the Apostle Paul put it a bit more succinctly, “Do not be deceived: ‘Bad company corrupts good morals.’”  (I Corinthians 15:33).
When we choose good friends and companions we elevates our game.  Folks who have a deeper understanding show us what can be done if we put our mind to it.  People like these help us to think differently and establish a higher set of priorities.  They challenge us to reach our own potential.
If we have outgrown our contemporaries, let’s not run the risk of having them drag us down to their level.  Yes, it can be tough to find a new group of friends and associates, but it just might be worth the investment.
          Think About It!
